my mommy admission:

i really don't "blog". our blog is mostly for family to watch wyatt grow up. but this means something to me and i feel like all moms should consider these thoughts.

admission:
my baby was only breast fed for 5 weeks and during the day, he sleeps on his tummy.

why is it that in conversation with other moms, i feel uncomfortable disclosing this information? as moms we should celebrate the fact that our children are thriving and happy. what works for one child may not work for another. so we shouldn't judge. congratulations on the fact that we are doing it! parenting is hard but we are doing it and we have to make our own decisions based on what feels right for our family and our babies vs. what they say or what statistics show.

yes, my baby sleeps longer and better on his belly and yes, he has to be fed formula... and yes that fact kills me BUT yes, he is happy and yes, he is healthy, and yes that's what is best for him. to me this is all that really matters.

  1. Guess what? When he is five and in kindergarten... NOBODY will ask you if he was breastfed. Nobody will care if he slept on his tummy. Moms are the most judgmental group of people I've ever been around. And sometimes we fall into the trap and let us get to it. Wyatt is healthy, he is sleeping, and his tummy is full. Consider yourself an AMAZING mommy!! Give yourself a pat on the back and go take a nap. :)

See, be happy your baby is sleeping. You can complete coherent sentences :)

  3. I hated breastfeeding and all of my babies slept on their tummies. I figured in 50 years "they" were going to change the recommendations anyway.
